NEDRA marked its first anniversary with its Annual General Meeting on April 16th, 2025. The meeting underscored NEDRA’s commitment to ensuring residents’ voices are heard and preserving Edenbridge as a great place to live.
Key agenda items highlighted the return of the draft Local Plan with its potential 63% increase in housing targets compared to the previous plan, and addressing concerns about the Four Elms development. Updates were also given on the War Memorial, noting the recent failed sale, and on water quality testing revealing high nitrate and phosphate levels in the River Eden, which is rated ecologically poor.
To ensure its continued operation, NEDRA is transitioning from annual membership fees to voluntary donations, explaining that managing individual renewals is not feasible for their small volunteer team and that these contributions are essential for funding their activities. New members will still pay a joining fee but thereafter move to the voluntary donation model.
The importance of community support and engaging more residents, including younger people, were emphasised.
