Policing in Edenbridge

Edenbridge no longer has a police station, but we will potentially soon have a lot more people moving into the area based on the 2040 Local Plan.

We understand at the time the police station was closed that promises were made thatĀ  a permanent police presence would remain in Edenbridge, potentially working out of the fire station. This did not happen.

The main issue with this is the amount of time it takes for the police to get to Edenbridge if there is an issue. They have been based out of Swanley and may soon be based out of Tonbridge. Either way they have a distance to cover.

As you can see from the statistics below, we are not exactly crime central but we do have a regular amount of criminal activity. Only recently we have seen some more serious crime in the Grove Pine and Crouch House Road area of Edenbridge, where there was an attempted murder.

With the potential influx of people that may move in from the development planned in the 2040 Local Plan, there is real concern that this situation will not improve and may deteriorate.

It is very important to report crime so that Edenbridge gets on the ‘radar’ of the police. With limited resources and funding they often have to choose where go, and usually it is where there is the greatest need.

These are the channels to use when reporting a crime:

999 if it is an emergency or incident being witnessed there and then

101 after the incident or if you have information about an incident/issue
